Grandfather Describes Bison Attack at Yellowstone National Park
ABC News segment features reporter Trevor Holt relaying statements from 65-year-old Carl McDaniel, who was attacked by a bison while with his 13-year-old grandson at Yellowstone. McDaniel describes stopping to photograph the animal roughly 100 yards away, the bison charging, his attempt to distract it by running in a separate direction, being thrown eight feet, and the animal standing over him without further attack. He suffered a broken leg requiring surgery and physical therapy but emphasizes that others helped and the outcome could have been worse.
