Nepal district authorities begin temporary burials of flood victims after DNA sampling
The segment covers Nepal district authorities starting temporary burials of unidentified flood victims in shallow graves in areas like Chitwan's Devghat forest. It explains the process for decomposed or mutilated remains recovered days after the August 26 glacial collapse flood along the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli river system. The sourcing draws from district officials and Nepal Police spokespeople citing ICRC protocols; medical teams collect DNA, fingerprints, photos, and belongings before burial, assigning identification numbers so families can later match records and exhume remains for rituals.
