The CBC News segment features classicist Emily Wilson discussing her Odyssey translation in light of Christopher Nolan's 2026 film adaptation. She addresses why she renders Greek terms for household subordinates as 'slave' rather than the film's 'servant.' Wilson explains the linguistic accuracy, narrative implications for the poem's focus on home and control, and historical reasons earlier translators softened the language. The clip draws on her expertise and references the film's dialogue choices without additional commentary or guests.
