Paxton, Hannity Spotlight Talarico's 2021 Remarks on Faith, Gender in Senate Race

Jun 24, 2026

Fox News host Sean Hannity played resurfaced 2021 audio of Democratic Texas Senate nominee James Talarico describing himself as a 'Christian who hates Christianity' and calling Jesus a 'socialist anarchist from ancient Palestine.' The segment portrayed Talarico's views on gender as non-binary, support for trans-related abortion access, and opposition to a minors' transitioning ban as out of step with Texas. Republican AG Ken Paxton, the GOP nominee, responded that these positions reflect 'Mamdani-New York values' rather than Texas ones and predicted voters would reject them once informed.
